On December 1, a discussion took place in the city of Gavar as part of a campaign aimed at preventing violence against women. The discussion presented an overview of the individuals and organizations involved in preventing violence against women in Armenia, the mechanisms in place, their effectiveness, and the work carried out by these bodies. Additionally, the efforts of the Open Borders NGO in addressing this issue were highlighted․
Participants included active young individuals interested in the issue, specialists, educators, municipal council members, representatives of NGOs, and officers from the Gavar Division of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Community Police Main Department.
The police actively participated in the awareness campaign organized by the Open Borders NGO, presenting their work and approaches to violence prevention. On December 10, a mural (graffiti) dedicated to combating violence against women will be unveiled in a prominent area of Gavar city, featuring the slogan: “It’s not your fault. Don’t stay silent.” Preliminary designs for the mural were put to a vote among the participants during the discussion.
The event was moderated by Lusine Zakalashvili, Vice-President of the Open Borders NGO. The program is part of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, funded by the Women’s Fund in Armenia.
